ATHLETIC AND SOCIAL EVENTS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Mission

Where we’re running to:

Sandy Feet Events produces fun San Diego area athletic and social events with a conscience.

We seek to leave footprints that are light on the earth but big in our communities, through environmentally friendly event management as well as partnerships with like-minded local charities.

Sandy Feet steps in a new direction with fun events designed to grow a community that cares and awareness about our partner charities’ causes.  We seek to build a sustainable future through our actions and by supporting organizations focused on creating sustainability within our community.

Getting sand on our feet is about health and fitness for participants, communities, and the planet.  Just as running barefoot on the beach helps us at Sandy Feet feel connected to nature, we hope Sandy Feet events help our participants feel more connected to the outdoors and to each other.  (Don’t worry – a Sandy Feet 5K run does involve shoes and a road).

Come outside and play with Sandy Feet Events – and by all means, get your feet dirty.

Rachel Profile Pic

The Producer: Rachel Hiner

Rachel Hiner is the founder and CEO of Sandy Feet Events. With four years of event-coordinating behind her, Rachel’s races have grown exponentially as she has evolved as a philanthropist and leader. Her passion for fitness and the environment fuels her motivation to grow and expand Sandy Feet. Her feet are always sandy.

Special Ops: Bobby McMillan

Bobby manages seamless operations for Sandy Feet Events.  When we need something done, Bobby is the go to guy.  Possibly the most resourceful person on the planet, Bobby is great to have around when things go wrong.  He can build a generator out of two sticks and a bungee.

The Brains: Andrew Clark

Sandy Feet’s business consultant, Andrew, spends his weekends coordinating timing and Sandy Feet races.  We have used his flawless, custom race-timing system for the past year.

The Voice: Adam Hiner

Adam keeps the crowds entertained no matter what happens as the resident Master of Ceremonies for Sandy Feet races.Years ago, people use think Adam and his sister Rachel were twins.  They’re not, but they did both move to the great state of California to start their own eco-themed companies (Adam co-founded San Diego’s Eco Caterers.)

The Writer: Heidi Masek

Our content writer on retainer is a recovering journalist who is a big fan of the Sandy Feet Events mission.  You are welcome to borrow Heidi as long as we get her back.

The Coordinator: Buu Huynh

Buu handles the outreach, coordination, and chaos of getting sponsors and vendors together for the races. A UCSD graduate and proud Valley girl (like, duh!), Buu enjoys planning events, social networking, and dancing.

The Boss: Joyce Tam

Joyce is the girl controlling all of the man power. She gets volunteers together and puts them to work. There is no problem she cannot handle. Watch out volunteers, this is one hard boss.

The Backbone: Volunteer Staff

We are grateful for our core group of trained and dedicated event volunteers. We are also lucky to receive even more volunteer help from groups all over San Diego including Volunteer San Diego, local Key Clubs and the California Conservation Corps.
