Join Us for the 3rd Annual Fast Times 5K benefiting Clairemont Hills Kiwanis!
The Fast Times 5K is a fun, fast run/walk great for all ages and athletic abilities! This community run at De Anza Cove, Mission Bay benefits the Clairemont Hills Kiwanis which supports the students in public schools in the community of Clairemont.
Following the 5K, the Clairemont Day at the Bay family activities will begin. This event is an interactive look at all that is happening at our schools in the Clairemont community and is open to all San Diego families. It is an activity based event that will bring local public schools from the community together. The Clairemont Mesa Education Foundation is working with several local organizations and the schools to set up family focused activities and showcase the schools for the community.
The 5K course winds along beautiful Mission Bay and is a flat, fast course for participants of all levels.

Event Day Timeline
Registration/Check-in: 7:00 am
5K Run Begins: 8:00 am
5K Walk Begins: 9:00 am
Top 3 overall Male/Female finishers will receive a medal for their achievement. We will also be giving medals for the top 3 Male/Female finishers in their age category in intervals of 10.
School heats will begin shortly after the 5K Run. School teams of 4 or more will participate in the High School 3,000, Middle School 2,000 and Elementary 1,000 meter dashes. The school with the fastest team will receive a trophy for their accomplishment.
This will be a timed event for participants in the runner category. Participants who register to walk will not be timed.
Take the 5 Fwy to Clairemont Dr. exit. Head west one block to Mission Bay Dr. Turn right and go 1 mile to De Anza Cove. There are two large parking lots and plenty of parking!

We need you! If you don’t want to run but still want to participate, we would love to have more volunteers! You can make new friends, join in the fun, and be a part of a great event. Volunteers are a very important part of Fast Times 5K, without you it would not be possible to host a fun and safe race.

What do I get for volunteering? In return for your precious time with us we will have snacks, drinks, a t-shirt, a hug and a high five! We will also provide a letter of service if needed.
What time do I need to be there? Please arrive at 6:00 am. You will be assigned to your specific duty for the day at this time. If you can't get there by 6:00 am, WE STILL NEED YOU! PLEASE COME HELP! You may not get the specific duty you want, but we can use each and every one of you!!
How do I get there and where do I park? Parking will be available onsite at De Anza Cove.
Where do I check in? There will be a volunteer table dedicated to all volunteer needs and check in /checkout.
What should I wear? We recommend wearing sneakers and dressing in layers. It can be very cold before the sun comes up and warm up considerably by mid-morning.
Can I volunteer and do the race? You can volunteer and race. Please let us know if you intend to do so. We have volunteer needs before race day for packet stuffing and registration. You might also be able to help with the events after the race completes.
What do I do if it rains on race morning? Come out anyway! The race should go on rain or shine! In the event of lightning, we will wait 30 minutes after the last lightning strike and then the race will go on.
What if I want to volunteer then watch someone finish/start? Let your team leader know and they will arrange for you to go watch the finish.
If it seems like we are done should I just take off? Let your team leader know if you are finished and would like to leave. If you would like to help out some more, check back in with the volunteer tent and we will find another assignment for you.
